New Mum Style guide for Spring/ Summer 2017

iCandy Mum Olivia Wayne is a sports broadcaster known for her tasteful sense of style and chic wardrobe.Olivia became a mother for the first time in December last year, and being a keen fashionista, it was only natural that she would look to the iCandy brand. Olivia currently has an iCandy Peach and has been sporting the pushchair, along with baby Ozzie, across various London landmarks. We are always insistent as a brand that style and practicality can work together in perfect harmony. One of our core principles reflects the belief that a parent shouldn’t have to sacrifice their own sense of personal style to acclimatise to the realities of being a parent. Therefore, with this core principle in mind, we asked Olivia for some fashion inspiration for mums in spring 2017. Read on to discover Olivia’s selection of this seasons must-haves.

 I have always been a huge fan of fashion. I love reading magazines. I love following all the fashion weeks, and keep coming across numerous fashion blogs and chic influencers on Instagram. I love playing around with different trends and outfits. Now I am a new mum, I have put into place a slightly more practical wardrobe and approach to how I dress, but I am very excited that the clocks have sprung forward meaning I can now experiment with next season’s new stylish trends. With this in mind, I have picked out a few Spring trends that I think will work really well as I combine my two loves of motherhood and fashion.

 Florals

Now, admittedly I haven’t been hugely into the floral trend in previous seasons, but I have found I really like a toughened up/ masculine skewed approach to this look and I have become a big fan. I will mostly be wearing a silky floral two piece pajama style suit with a darker colour tone because I have come to realise that florals done with a navy or black backdrop as opposed to a pretty, pastel vibe, are much more my aesthetic. This look works well with a killer pointy stilleto for night, and in the day with a white camisole and some Stan Smith Adidas trainers. This outfit is perfect for Sunday lunch in a pub beer garden and stroll around Hampstead Heath.

 Mom Jeans

The clue is in the name. But seriously, now I finally have my waist back – there are no jeans more comfortable than the mom jean. High waisted, so you can tuck in your tops and eliminate bare midriffs. Loose fit in the leg, so you don’t feel restricted and it means the denim is thick and not stretchy which covers a multitude of sins. Ankle grazing, making them perfect with heels, sandals, loafers, trainers and anything in-between. These jeans work for day and night and will be a firm staple in my spring wardrobe.

 80s Court Shoe

 This shoe trend could not have resurfaced at a better time.  These shoes are low cut on the foot, showing the perfect amount of toe cleavage and elongating the leg. They have a block heel for comfort (and stability) so perfect when walking a lot, carrying a baby or pushing a pram. They come in amazing colours/ prints and metallics (my favourites are plain white and leopard print) and they go with skirts, jeans, culottes and dresses, making a normal outfit look dressy, yet relaxing anything too formal. Comfortable, classy, chic and playful – they are a must have.

 Fanny Pack / Bum Bag

 This is essential for spring – and even though it made its come back in 2016, for me it is a piece of fashion genius that should now stand the test of time! I am not talking the nylon, neon bum bags from when you used to do car boot-sales on a Sunday morning, I am talking vintage designer bum bags that can slip through your belt loops – that look so chic and enable you to be hands free – the near impossible thing to do when having a baby. (NB obviously the baby-changing bag will be conveniently stashed under the pushchair in the storage section) I am thinking vintage Chanel, vintage Celine or old school Gucci for this particular stylish accessory... but it will take hours of eBay scrolling and bidding to find one!
