Junior Fashion / Textile Designer (‘Soft Goods’ Designer)

The main purpose of the role is to research, design and develop the textile elements of iCandy’s extensive range of current products (including pushchairs, car seats, bags, blankets etc) and future ground up projects. Key aspects of the role will be the ability to deliver from pre brief to implementation including trend research, mood board creation, concept design, detail design, sample reviews.
Working collaboratively with the iCandy NPD teams in both the UK and China to maintain our position as market leaders through Design, Innovation and Quality.
Key Deliverables:
Design:
- Trends (general awareness of current and emerging trends, research, forecasting): creation and delivery of iCandy seasonal trends.
- User-centred design approach.
- CMF (Colour Material Finish of primarily the soft goods plus input on the hard goods).
- Colour selection.
- Mood / direction boards.
- Concept generation (fabrication, colour).
- Visualisation (Sketching and CAD).
- Sample reviews and feedback.
- Identify new fabric opportunities for application in our industry.
- Awareness of new / emerging fabrics (tech, green, etc) and manufacturing processes.
Core Skills:
- Creativity and innovation.
- CS (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop etc).
- Basic knowledge of textiles (structure, manufacture etc).
- Degree qualified.
- Critical path review and adherence.
- Competitor awareness.
- Knowledge of print design including repeats.
