Creating a Safer Sleeping Space

iCandy Peach 7 and The Lullaby Trust Guide on the Safest Place for Your Baby to Sleep

Welcoming a new baby into the family is a wonderful experience, and ensuring their safety is crucial. One important aspect is creating a secure sleeping environment.

As a family business, providing the highest quality of safety-ensured products is integral to iCandy’s DNA.  Together with The Lullaby Trust, a leading charity committed to promoting safer sleep for babies, we have put together some helpful information on the safest place for your baby to sleep.

The Lullaby Trust advises that the safest place for a baby to sleep is in a separate cot or Moses basket and in the same room as the parents for the first six months. This proximity allows for easy monitoring and quick response to your baby's needs while minimising the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). In the absence of a cot or a Moses basket, they would advise using a safe, firm, flat space for your baby, such as a suitable pram carrycot. The iCandy Peach 7, an iconic pushchair known for its luxury and elegance extends its commitment to safety beyond strolling. The guide produced in collaboration with The Lullaby Trust emphasises the importance of a safe sleeping environment for infants with the iCandy Peach 7 carrycot being suitable for sleeping, both day and night.

The Peach 7 is suitable from birth and its removable carrycot can also be used as a sleep-space for newborns. The lightweight carrycot comes with a mattress and a removable, washable cover that is designed to fit the carrycot perfectly, making it an ideal Moses basket or travel cot solution.

Keep the hood back when indoors, remove the apron and don’t cover the pram/carrycot. For example, don’t put material or a blanket over the top of the pram to keep out light. The padded sides of a buggy/pram/carrycot may trap more heat, so keep checking your baby’s temperature. Feel the back of their neck or chest – if their skin feels sweaty or clammy, they are too hot, so remove a layer of bedding or clothing.

Beyond the choice of sleeping equipment, The Lullaby Trust highlights the importance of placing your baby on their back to sleep, using a firm and flat mattress, and avoiding soft bedding to reduce the risk of SIDS. The Peach 7 complements these guidelines with its ergonomic design, providing adequate support for your baby's developing spine and ensuring a comfortable and secure sleeping environment.

It’s also important to remember that babies’ airways are vulnerable, mainly in the first few months. The Lullaby Trust offer parents and carers advice and actions they can take to reduce the risk of SIDS.

Kate Holmes, Head of Support and Information at The Lullaby Trust says “The simplest way to do this is by sleeping a baby on their back on a firm, flat surface with no padded or cushioned areas which will help to keep their airways open and reduce the risk of suffocation and SIDS. A cot, Moses basket, bassinet, carrycot, or crib all fulfil these criteria.”

The iCandy Peach 7 proudly supports The Lullaby Trust in guiding parents on how to create the safest sleeping space for their little ones.  By adhering to recommended practices and incorporating the versatile Peach 7 into your routine, you not only provide your baby with a stylish and comfortable resting place but also prioritise their safety and well-being in those precious early months.

After all, nothing can be more comforting than knowing your little one is sleeping safely.
