How to Re-Vamp Your Post Baby Wardrobe
When you finally have your bundle of joy in your arms, it can be hard to know how your body will change over the next few months. Your pre-pregnancy clothes still won’t fit, but you want to get your post-pregnancy body looking stylish again.
The thought of squeezing back into your skinny jeans may make your eyes water, but you want to try and avoid turning your tracksuit bottoms and baggy t-shirts into a daily outfit.
Here’s our guide on re-vamping your post baby wardrobe:
Invest in Essentials
You don’t need to splash out on designer clothes when re-vamping your wardrobe; the best idea is to buy a selection of essentials from shops that won’t blow your budget.
Buy a selection of camisole tops and leggings, as these are great to wear as part of a number of different outfits. You can get some really nice embellished t-shirts these days too, and it is also worth buying a pair of cheaper jeans that fit you at the time, even if they may be a bit big a month down the line.
Lycra is definitely your friend after having a baby and there are lots of different clothes available that are made with lycra in, to make them a bit more stretchy. Leggings as we have already mentioned are a great essential to have in your wardrobe, as are skirts with stretchy waistbands.
There is also a great selection of shapewear available from shops both online and on the high street. These are fantastic if you have a special occasion to attend and just want to make your stomach and hips look smoother.
Embrace the Drape
Loose tops and tunics are fantastic post-pregnancy, as they hang comfortably over your stomach and can be paired with either leggings or tights, depending on how long they are.
This combination works well in both winter and the summer months, as you can pair the outfit with flip flops or UGG boots and finish your look with a thin cardigan or a jacket, depending on the weather.
Choose the Trends
Every season comes with its own set of fashion trends, so make sure you work your wardrobe around some current styles and colours. In the summer months choose pastel colours and fun, vibrant patterns, and in the winter choose dark knitwear and layers.
Choose trends that will be flattering and highlight your assets, maxi dresses are very popular in the summer months and work well with lots of different sizes and figures.
Accessories are a fantastic way to jazz up an outfit and keep your style on trend. If you want to wear quite a simple outfit such as jeans and a t-shirt or leggings and a tunic, you can then add a belt or scarf to completely transform it.
Jewellery is brilliant for giving your outfit an extra sparkle and can help turn daytime fashion into smart evening style in a matter of minutes. Think statement necklaces and chunky bracelets and maybe go for a nice pair of dangly earrings too.
That’s a Wrap
Wrap tops and dresses are a great addition to a post-pregnancy wardrobe. They come in a range of colours and styles, and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
The benefit of a wrap dress is that it can be adjusted over time as your figure changes, meaning once you’ve bought it, it could become a wardrobe staple for years to come.
