Getting Fit With the Family…
Most of us would like to lose weight and get fit, but it's hard enough just to fit all your work and family duties into the day, without having to think of exercise too. Most parents believe they simply don't have time to work out – but this is not the case!
Once you start following a regular fitness routine, you will have more energy to get through your long list of daily chores and you will start feeling much better in yourself.
In this video, Aaron and little Riley are demonstrating some fitness related activities that can involve the whole family and take place at most parks – this way a ‘workout’ doesn’t have to be taken too seriously and can be fun and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of age.
These activities will increase strength, flexibility and co-ordination whilst putting a smile on your faces.
Equipment such as these bars seen in the video can be found at local parks and are a great way to throw some lifting exercises into your family day trip. Pull ups will help increase your strength, whilst toning your back and bicep muscles.
Additionally this will help your posture and flexibility, as long as they are carried out correctly. If you have a toddler like Riley then they will want to give it a go themselves – this is fantastic to start building upper body strength for both parent and child.
Also done using either a bar or lying on the floor, leg raises are great for strengthening your inner core. Both parent and child can do them and they will help to build strength in the hip and thigh muscles.
For beginners, leg raises can be done with your legs slightly bent, but for the more advanced your legs should be kept as straight as possible.
