iCandy pass the £55,000 milestone! A look back at 2016 from Great Ormond Street Children’s Charity’s Chris Carter

It has taken iCandy less than a year to raise an incredible £55,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, and we are hugely grateful for all their support. The money will fund an enclosed isolation recovery bay at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), for patients coming out of theatre after surgery. These rooms are crucial for children who need a dedicated space to recover following their operation.

GOSH has a special place in the heart of the company, and both staff and customers have got involved in the fantastic fundraising efforts. The year started with ‘Bad Hair Day’ when the office donned wacky wigs or unusual hair styles to help launch the year’s partnership activities.  In May iCandy’s trade event in Manchester added even more money to their total, with an auction of iCandy pushchairs raising £11,000. This was then tripled by the company’s CEOs Bradley and Warren Appel to raise an incredible total of £33,000.

Further employee fundraising took place later in the Summer with Cameron Appel and his mum Nicola raising £9,000 through a skydive, Barry Mooney raising over £1,800 from the Frankfurt Marathon, and Nick Kemp, Thom Bateman and Graham Boyle raising over £2,000 from a triathlon. We’re so impressed by the physical challenges members of the iCandy team have taken on, all in the name of our partnership.

From the summer onwards, iCandy donated £10 from the sale of each Primrose and Honeycomb Peach pushchairs and £5 from the sale of each MiPeach pushchair. The fundraising continued in the office as staff joined in with ‘Bake it Better’, the charity’s tasty cake-related fundraiser. And just when it looked like the final fundraising activity for the year was done and dusted, iCandy set up a raffle for a one-of-a-kind Crimson pushchair which raised over £1,900.

We are so proud of iCandy’s achievement this year, and we’re looking forward to a successful 2017 in partnership together. On behalf of everyone at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, thank you for your support.
