Father's Day - MiChair, MiTime

This Father’s Day iCandy is shining a spotlight on the importance of making the most of time.

What does time mean to you? Do you wish you had more of it or less of it? Perhaps you wish it would speed up or slow down. Do you waste time or maximise every minute? There are certain life events that throw our sense of time into question and having children is certainly one of them. We watch the clock through tough sleepless nights repeating “this too shall pass”, yet desperately will time to slow down as each developmental check or birthday passes. Our pre-parent claims of being “time poor” seem futile and “spare time” is viewed and used differently than ever before.

Ironically, during their early years, children have a very abstract concept of time. In lieu of a clear understanding of minutes and hours, time is more successfully marked by certain points in their day – breakfast time, play time, lunch time, bath time, dinner time. In our busy lives it would be easy to overlook the importance of those moments and rush through them in a bid to achieve more in the day. Yet to our little ones, those benchmarks frame their days and ultimately their memories.

In an empowering film, created by Fadila Hale, we meet Jason, Matthew and Daniel who share their experiences of time spent with their own fathers and how that has shaped them as dads today.

Jason

“My dad was always full of fun and questions”.

Jason

Matthew

“Being a dad is the greatest feeling in the world…I get to shape my child’s future”.

Matthew

Daniel

“The thing I have personally learnt is that you cannot substitute good time together”.

Happy Father’s Day!
